Plans and usage

GPT-Live limits by ChatGPT plan

GPT-Live usage is measured over a rolling 24-hour period, not a calendar day. Limits can change, and ChatGPT should notify you when an allowance is reached. Every individual Live conversation also has a two-hour maximum.

A single conversation stops at two hours

The per-conversation cap is separate from the rolling plan allowance. Even if time remains in your 24-hour allowance, one Live call can last no longer than two hours.

Codex Voice is metered separately

Voice in desktop Work and Codex uses a separate rolling five-hour allowance and permits one active Voice conversation. Tasks started through Voice still consume the normal Codex or shared usage budget.

What rolling 24 hours means

A rolling window changes continuously based on recent use. It does not necessarily reset at midnight or at the same clock time every day. ChatGPT displays a notice when possible, so in-product information should be treated as the operational source for your account.

OpenAI says limits may change. Unlimited access is also subject to the service's terms and abuse safeguards. This page records the official published figures rather than promising a fixed entitlement.

When you reach a limit

Read the notice

ChatGPT should tell you which limit was reached and may show an available fallback.

Continue in text

The same chat and its context remain available for text messages after Voice ends.

Use an available mode

Depending on account and allowance, switch to mini, Advanced, or Standard, or wait for rolling capacity to return.

GPT-Live limit FAQ

Do GPT-Live limits reset at midnight?

Not necessarily. They are measured over a rolling 24-hour period, so capacity returns as earlier usage moves outside that window.

Is the two-hour cap per day?

No. It is the maximum length of one Live conversation and is separate from your plan's rolling allowance.

Is Pro unlimited literally without conditions?

The Help Center lists unlimited GPT-Live-1 access for the $200 Pro plan, but service terms and abuse safeguards still apply, and published limits may change.
